Pharmacy Technician

 

This 50-hour comprehensive pharmacy technician program prepares students to work in hospitals, home infusions, and community pharmacies. Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of registered pharmacists and assist them in:

  • Preparing prescriptions
  • Keeping records of drugs used
  • Ordering supplies
  • Preparing intravenous (IV) packs using sterile techniques
  • Inventory control
  • Billing & reimbursement

This program includes a FREE optional 80-hour externship. Additional student fees may include a background check, physical exam, current resume, state registration and/or drug test as determined by the externship site.

Requirements for admission:

Effective January 2020 graduates can sit for the exam PRIOR to receiving their HS diploma or GED and no longer MUST be 18 years of age or older

  • Arithmetic & reading comprehension placement tests or proof of college-level coursework
  • A clear understanding of written and spoken English

Students seeking National Certification (CPhT): $129 payable to PTCB

NJ registration (LPhT) fee (must be registered in NJ to work): $35-$75
