Comprehensive State-wide Transfer Agreement Guidelines
New Jersey enacted the Comprehensive State-wide Transfer Agreement in 2008 to allow smooth transfer from community colleges to New Jersey four-year public colleges. It provides for full transfer of A.A. and A.S. credits for graduates, but there are stipulations you need to know about.
Facts
- The law applies to A.A. and A.S. degree graduates only
- Major-to-major transfer will work best under the agreement
- It is valid only for New Jersey public institutions
- Transfer acceptance at a public 4-year college is still competitive; the law does not guarantee that you will be accepted
Your Responsibilities
- Choose your transfer major carefully
- Choose your transfer school as soon as possible
- Check your transfer school(s) program requirements (prerequisites, etc.)
- Follow your community college’s General Education requirements carefully
