This 300-hour information-packed program focuses primarily on accounting procedures and accounting software programs. The class is introduced to basic accounting principles and then advances to QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021 and MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook 2019. To enhance the student’s marketability for employment, the student will be prepared for Microsoft Word and Excel MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) Certification. Class assignments are based on actual workplace projects to prepare the student for employment in the accounting and business fields. Business writing, keyboarding, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, financial statements, as well as other accounting policies and procedures are covered. Writing a resume and job search training are included.
Prerequisites: High school graduate or HSE/GED, basic computer skills, and an interest and aptitude in working with numbers. Offered in September and February.
